Newsletter Term 2 Week 8 2019

Dear Parents, Friends and Caregivers,

I had the great pleasure of welcoming 10 new Reception students and their families to the TWCS community this week. The children were involved in a range of play-based learning and art activities and spent time on the playground and familiarising themselves with the school grounds. The children join us for their second transition visit next Wednesday and we look forward to them joining our school community as part of the Reception N and Reception G classes next term.

Dear Families,

Last Thursday 13 June, we congratulated Matthew (Yr 5), Riley (Yr 4), Jameson (Yr 3), Anna (Yr 3), Abby (Yr 3), Matilda (Yr3), Gaby (Yr 3) and Marissa (Yr 3) who through the Sacrament received their First Reconciliation in St Aloysius Church.  Special thanks to Fr Peter and Catherine Birchmore for their support in creating a child centered liturgy and a family and parish celebration of God's unconditional love for these young people.  

I wanted to share this excellent article on ‘Mindful Parenting’. I believe this article resonates with the work we are doing here at TWCS with wellbeing and the busyness of the world we live in today.

Soccer and Netball Term 2 and 3

The program for the remainder of the soccer and netball season has now been released and distributed to all players. Please note that these programs do change slightly and if this does occur the school will ensure that an updated program is given to families.

SACPSSA Section 5 Athletics Carnival

The SACPSSA Athletics Carnival was held at SA Athletics Stadium on Monday 17 June 2019. We are very proud of our athletes amazing efforts which positioned Tenison Woods in Girls and Boys in 6th place overall. 

Congratulations to Dion in our Year 3 Boys team! Dion was the recipient of the SACPSSA Section 5 Athletics Age Champion medal.

Visible Learning

Media Arts
As a provocation for their learning in Media Arts the 5/6 class visited the Hamra Centre Library to see the S.A. Photographic Federation's Annual Exhibition.

Visible Well-Being

As part of our Physical Education Programme we have welcomed Chris from the AFL to lead us in ‘footy’ clinics. 

Congratulations to all the recepients of a Principal Award presented at this week's assembly.

We would like to thank all the people who volunteered to help out at the Bunnings BBQ a few weeks ago . It was a great event which raised $1450.00.
