Dear Parents, Friends and Caregivers,
I had the great pleasure of welcoming 10 new Reception students and their families to the TWCS community this week. The children were involved in a range of play-based learning and art activities and spent time on the playground and familiarising themselves with the school grounds. The children join us for their second transition visit next Wednesday and we look forward to them joining our school community as part of the Reception N and Reception G classes next term.
This week, our Reception G and Reception N classes hosted our school assembly on Monday morning. The students did a fantastic job of sharing the learning that they have been engaged in and they were able to demonstrate many of the Character Strengths they have been taught about. This learning was further shared at their learning showcase held on Tuesday afternoon where the classes invited their parents and carers to visit and join with them in a variety of activities. It was great to see so many parents attending both events and celebrating in the journey of learning with their child.
On Monday, 34 of our Year 3,4,5 and 6 students participated in the SACPSSA Athletics Carnival held at the SA Athletics stadium. The students demonstrated a positive team-spirit, supporting and cheering one another on. Thank you to Mr Harrison, Mr Atyeo, our pre-service teachers, Josh and Alesha along with all the parents and grandparents who came along to support the day.
Teachers are in the process of finalising student reports for Semester 1 and these will be sent home via your child on Monday 1st July. The reports provide a summary of the progress your child has made this year and I encourage you to talk through the report with them.
Parent Teacher interviews will be held in week 2 next Term (29th July - 2nd August). This is an opportunity to meet with your child's class teacher to discuss their learning progress. Meeting times can be made via the School Interview portal which will be open from Monday 1st July until Wednesday 24th July. An email will be sent to all families once the portal is open on Monday 1st July.
Reminder: Use of Social Media
It is important to remember that when photos are taken at various school events that images of children should not be posted on social media pages without explicit permission from the parents/carers of all the children in the photo. Best practice is to only post images of your own child.
Upcoming events…
Italian Day
Next Wednesday 26th June we are holding an Italian Day to celebrate the teaching and learning of the Italian language and culture at TWCS. The students will be participating in a range of activities on the day including painting 'Michelangelo' style and experiencing the work of Leonardo DaVinci via the use of Virtual Reality (VR) and VR goggles.
Catholic Charities and P&F Sausage sizzle
We will be holding a Catholic Charities Sporting Team Colours day on Wednesday 3rd July to raise money for Catholic Charities with further details to be shared with families via email. The P&F are also providing a sausage sizzle lunch on this day and orders will be available through the QkR App.
A reminder that school finishes for the term on Thursday 4th July.
As always I ask that you keep an eye on the school calendar for all upcoming events throughout the term.
With kind regards,
John Low
Principal
