Visible Learning

Media Arts
As a provocation for their learning in Media Arts the 5/6 class visited the Hamra Centre Library to see the S.A. Photographic Federation's Annual Exhibition.

A library volunteer introduced the students to the photographic display detailing both its historical and technical aspects. The students were then asked to reflect on: a photograph that caused an emotion, a photograph in which they noted something of interest and their favourite photo.

In class, we have been relating this experience to our learning in Media Arts in particular the rules of photography such as composition, use of camera angles, space, movement and the use of lighting.

Digital Technology
Integrated with our learning in Media Arts, the 5/6 class have been learning about the ethical use of digital technologies in photography including photo enhancing and photoshopping.

Science
Our Science this Term has been investigating Chemical Sciences with the Year 5 students learning all about Solids, Liquids and Gases and the year 6 students extending their learning on Solids, Liquids and Gases from last year and working on reversible and irreversible changes. The students have completed many practical experiments as well as learning the scientific theory.

Visible Well-Being

As part of our Physical Education Programme we have welcomed Chris from the AFL to lead us in ‘footy’ clinics. The students have all participated fully in all the engaging activities and have thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Well done to Jesse for his critical thinking and team work which led him to successfully ‘winning’ two adult tickets to any SANFL game.

Pre-Service Teacher

We welcomed Alesha Canon to our class. Alesha has planned, prepared and taught in each curricular area with both year levels within our class and has enjoyed building relationships with the students in the class and the parents she has met. As with all the pre-service teachers in our school, Alesha has immersed herself in our class and school community and we have appreciated the zest and enthusiasm she has shown.
